It’s summer and I have been everywhere all the time it seems this past couple of months – it’s been a busy one. At the start of June I was happy to be invited to Lissan House to guide a group of members from the Cookstown Wildlife Trust. They’re a small, independent group who really care about their local area and it was a pleasure to bring them around the site. I especially enjoyed seeing all of the water avens. I don’t see this flower nearly as much in Belfast and it is one of my favourite early summer flowers. Thank you to Ernie and the trust for having us along.
In June I was at the Ulster Folk Museum twice – once for Nature day and then again for our regular Summer Session at the end of June too. The highlight of the day for me (and possibly for others) is finding witches eggs, aka immature stink horn fungus, to examine and even taste! There were lots of keen eaters on this walk and I am absolutely here for it! We are back again for Autumn and Winter. More details here!
We were out with Belfast Hills Partnership at Victoria Park as part of the Belfast Trees Project. We got caught in a bit of rain but it was still a lovely afternoon with lots to find.
And finally after a fairly stressful time we managed to get a break away for a few days. I haven’t had a holiday in over a year so it was well needed! We were just one hour away but in the sunshine we have been having lately it felt very special.
